After Effects is a software that I have been using for 5 years. Many of my animations, both 2D and 3D, are produced within After Effects, although this isn't always the case. I use additional plugins such as Video Copilot's Element 3D and Reg Giant Trapcode Suite to go the extra mile in creating some unique and visually dynamic for the audience.
